The letter A

(no subject)

So, I got my car today.  Not without even more hassle, but at least I've got it.

I took 1 1/2 GRE practice tests today, and my scores were so much better than the first one I took.  Still not as high as I'd like them to be, but I've still got a few weeks--and 3 more practice tests--which makes me feel much better about taking the test.

And the New York for New Year's trip?  Hopefully--nothing's set in stone yet, but this is the new plan.  Kat and I are wanting to go together.  In which case, I'm not as upset about fewer friends being in town.  I mean, I still want to see as many people as possible, but if she's there, too, and I'm spending some time showing her around and seeing all "my" places, there's a second purpose to the trip (to spend time with Kat and hang out in the city with her), instead of just seeing my friends who live there.

So, she's hoping to leave Jakes with Aaron's mom, and Kayla with her mom, and Aaron works retail, so he'll be working all Boxing Week anyway, so it's the perfect time to go.  At least, that's what we're thinking.  Hoping.  Planning.

It'll be awesome.  Time with Kat, time in New York, time to see the friends who are in the city over the holidays... great stuff.

And now, it's bedtime.

The other thing I was going to mention earlier?

I've been thinking about trying to go to New York over my Christmas break, for New Year's.  Unfortunately, it's looking more and more like people aren't going to be there--a lot will be visiting family, and Forefront won't be having any Sunday services on the 31st, because they rent space, and the building isn't open on New Year's Eve.

I'd love to go, but the point would be to see people, to go to my church, to hang out with friends, and if they're not in the city for the holidays, that defeats a lot of the purpose, and I'd rather save my money and plan a trip out at some other time, when more people will be around.  The biggest benefit to going at New Year's would be that I've got the week between Christmas and New Year's off work anyway, so I wouldn't need to take any vacation days in order to go.

We'll see.  It's still not a non-possibility; I'll have to ask around a bit more and just see who's going to be around, and maybe it'll still be worth going out.  We'll just have to see....

Last NYC post

One last entry from New York.  Man, this is weird.

I'll do a voice post from the airport, once I'm through security.  Hopefully I won't have any more crazy stories (a la the box incident) to tell...

I went to Strand last night to buy my airplane book, instead of getting it at an airport bookstore.  Because... come on.  It's Strand Books, and if you're ever in New York and don't go, you'll never forgive yourself.

I think that's it.  More later.

Fireworks

Remember when there were random fireworks over Central Park, and they appeared out of nowhere and then disappeared, but we kept hearing them?

Yeah, me too.

They were beautiful.
