Dead.
I got home from rehearsal at 11 last night, and put in GG and VM then, so I didn't finish watching them until 1, and then I was up by 6 this morning. So here are my slightly coherent thoughts.
(Random side note: the TWoP forums are loading unbelievably slowly for me. This does not bode well for my procrastination levels today. Nor does it bode well for me actually catching up on the pages of discussion that I missed last night.)
In any case, I've only seen each episode once so far, so we'll go with what we've got here, in no particular order, and probably less depth than usual.
Any more random sentences before I move on to Veronica? No? Okay.
That was a lot longer and more rambling than I'd anticipated. So sorry!
And no, I'm not talking about Dean O'Dell.

Gilmore Girls 7.09: "Knit, People, Knit!"
At the end of the episode, I was squealing into my pillow, so I wouldn't wake my roommates. Go, Luke!!! It's about time!! And perhaps this will just be the start of him taking action and saying what he thinks and standing up for himself.
Doula, guys? I love Liz and TJ, but seriously. That child is going to get some serious mocking on the playground. How did Jess end up with such a normal name? I do love them, though, and awwww, it's a girl! Jess has a baby sister.
For some reason, I didn't see Rory moving back in with Paris and Doyle, but it totally makes sense. I just wasn't thinking that way. Paris and Doyle, though? Made for each other. Seriously. There couldn't be a better match for Paris, and I love that we see them doing the krav maga, and him really sticking by her, and them dancing. They just fit.
And my favorite part of that scene was Logan's face while Paris was outlining the terms of the lease. He knows Paris, and he just took her with a grain of salt. It was just priceless, and another one of those subtle things (like his interactions with Lorelai in "Introducing Lorelai Planetarium") that show how utterly in tune with Rory's life he is.
Okay, here's my prediction for Rory and Logan, with Logan moving back to the States. I think that this is where the big test of all their progress in London will happen. When he's overseas, there's an expectation that the distance will be difficult, but when he's within a few hours of where she is, it makes it almost more difficult when their schedules don't coincide and they can't spend time together or be at each other's events (or apartments). I still think they'll make it, but I think that Rory may still be expecting this to make things like they were last year, and it's not going to work that way--it'll be yet a different way of seeing it altogether, and it'll take some adjustment.
Marty, Marty, Marty. Things were great for about 3 minutes there, and I really like you, so why did you have to act like that?
I did like Rory's comment about "I rejected him--if you can even call it that--years ago." It's an ongoing debate on the boards as to whether Rory treated him badly, and I, for one, don't think that she did. I thought that she was naive about the fact that he liked her, but once she knew, she didn't string him along or lead him on. She told him, flat-out, that she wasn't interested, and their friendship fizzled--which is perfectly natural. It happens. Trust me, I know. So I was glad to see canonical confirmation that she thinks that way.
I still stand by my statement, when Marty first came back, that he and Lucy seem suited for each other. I like them better together than I liked the idea of him with Rory, and I don't want him to mess that up because he's still hung up on her. Even if he was drunk. Because, really, Boyfriend needs to move on. Doyle drunkenly hitting on Rory? Disturbing, but amusing. Marty drunkenly hitting on Rory? Disturbing and sad.
Um. Lorelai and Chris. Chris and Jackson. Man-date. That was funny, and I loved Jackson not-so-subtly sticking up for Lorelai. Reminds me of Aaron. If he was a farmer, he would be Jackson. Although I'm not sure how I'd feel about Aaron telling my husband that "many have tried; many have failed."
And I literally cringed for Chris when he went to talk to Taylor. Just... don't, okay? You were good, with the Jackson-love, and Patty and Babette were being nice to you, and then you went and wrecked it.
Knit-a-thon? Cute, but I kept thinking about the Dance Marathon, and thinking that it didn't measure up to that as a Stars Hollow quirky event.

Veronica Mars 3.09: "Spit & Eggs"
Mac's back! Yay! Although it was a little weird to have her bookend the rape mystery the way she did--being involved with finding out about Parker, and then being there for the end.
Logan and Veronica... saw it coming, but I thought that it would be at the beginning of the next arc. I thought that something would happen in the cliffhanger that would lead to a break-up. However, I cried at Logan's "pain now or pain later" speech. Just... guh. It seemed, at that moment, like such a no-win situation; everything he did, from then on out, was infused with so much love, and it'll be interesting to see how this new phase plays out.
Piz cracked me up, going on about the radio show, when Mac, Wallace, and Veronica were all just staring at him. And his dance? Hee! I don't want a romantic Veronica/Piz plotline, but I do love the guy.
I totally called Moe being involved with the rapes. And as soon as he appeared to "rescue" Veronica, I knew he was in there somehow, and kept trying to yell at her not to drink his dumb oolong, but she couldn't hear me. I didn't put the Mercer/Moe connection together until I saw the picture, though.
(Which, by the way, puts Mercer's time in prison in a totally different light.)
I'd actually thought that Mercer was the main rapist and Moe was a copycat. Which was sort of on the right track, but I didn't put the connection between the two of them together.
And, oh, Keith. You knew that having an affair with a married woman was stupid. At least you had the sense to look heartbroken when Cyrus was breaking down as his marriage crumbled around his ears. Nice twist, though, that his next infidelity case is for someone he's got a connection to, on some level. It's harder to swallow than if it had just been a random dude.
Oy. This is taking forever to write. Way to keep getting distracted by work to do! Sheesh, people. Priorities. Come on.
I'm not even going to speculate on Dean O'Dell's murder yet, except to say that I think Weevil's going to feature more prominently in it. How could he not, especially being the one to find the body? I see an accusation happening there, although I kind of hope not.
Aaaannnnyyyway. I don't even remember anything else I had to say about that episode. To put it all into perspective, I got home from rehearsal 12 hours ago, and in that time, have watched 2 hours of TV, gotten up and ready to work, driven 45 minutes to work, and have been here for 3 1/2 hours. Oh, and there was a little bit of sleep there, too.

That was a lot longer and more rambling than I'd anticipated. So sorry!

Me too! I kept screaming that there was a family member missing during that scene, but they didn't seem to care. At least a mention would have been nice, other than the fact that he was Liz' firstborn. "She had Jess in the hospital..." Fine, good, great. I'm glad you remembered he exists. However, it would have been good if you had said why he couldn't be there!
I would swoon over ProtectiveBigBrother!Jess. The moment with Luke holding the baby? Awesome, and so sweet. Can we see a similar scene with Jess? Please????
That was a lot of rambling to say "I agree with you."
Hee! That was my first thought, too!
Marty, Marty, Marty. Things were great for about 3 minutes there, and I really like you, so why did you have to act like that?
Again, you read my mind!
Doyle drunkenly hitting on Rory? Disturbing, but amusing. Marty drunkenly hitting on Rory? Disturbing and sad.
Nice parallel -- and, what a surprise, agreed!
Knit-a-thon? Cute, but I kept thinking about the Dance Marathon, and thinking that it didn't measure up to that as a Stars Hollow quirky event.
Aw, I didn't even think of that. Now I'm sad. I think I'm going to have to go home and watch season 3.
No comments on the VM thoughts, except that yay, you kind of called it!
I called more of it earlier than I did for either season 1 or 2. Probably, though, that has a lot to do with the fact that I watched S1 and S2 back-to-back and didn't give myself time to really think about the mysteries.
I know! That was really disappointing. Just as I think, "Yay! Rory and Marty are friends again!" we get that, and I was miffed. Miffed.
I really enjoy Wayne and Alexis together so I hope all of this somehow resolves itself and without Lucy too terribly hurt.
And I literally cringed for Chris when he went to talk to Taylor.
I could only shake my head. What a silly boy. You can't short-cut it, buddy. And yeah, Lorelai and Sookie have worked out an involved plan of attack to win over the citizens of Stars Hollow, but at least they're doing it the right way.
I agree. I never wanted Marty and Rory to end up as a couple, but I love Wayne and Alexis as friends, and they play that easy chemistry very well. Plus, I do like Lucy and Olivia--I have from the beginning--and I don't want their friendship with Rory to be ruined over a misunderstanding about Marty.
It's amazing really, because I was not nearly this involved (or thinking about episodes days and weeks afterward) last season. This is a nice feeling, to be this involved with GG again.
It seems like Rory always ends up in awkward Marty situations, and she always gets blamed--unfairly, in my opinion. I don't think that she could have done much else in that case, other than talking to him sooner, but I think she was just waiting to see if it would blow over on its own.
Agreed. While I realize Rory is far from perfect, the Rory-haters seem to abuse logic with their ability to blame her for certain things.
Sadly (since I'm a fan of the pairing), this is a rampant problem among Lit fans, to the point that it's absurd.
So, so, so true. It's amazing how many things are her fault, and how many things she's not given a break for.
Sadly (since I'm a fan of the pairing), this is a rampant problem among Lit fans, to the point that it's absurd.
Yeah, I hear ya. I love the pairing, too, although I'm fully on board for Rory and Logan--and would think of myself as a double-shipper, without an OTP per se. It's easy, I think, because we see more of Rory, so it's easier to pick apart her actions, as opposed to the guys, who we only see through her eyes, really. But even so, it's not right to do it that way.
Paris and Doyle just work together so well. They are definitely not a boring TV couple. They're just their crazy selves and don't need anything else *cough*pregnancy, long distanceness, marrying the wrong person*cough* to be entertaining.
I'm exhausted after watching GG and VM back to back on Tuesdays, and I don't have rehearsals! You are very dedicated.
Hee! Definitely. They're just so quirky. Although I'm okay with the long distance thing as a storyline. It's being handled well, and the whole thing seems a lot more realistic than some of the others.
You know what I want to see, speaking of pregnancy? A hormonal Lane crying over Baby Doula, and Zach getting to hold the baby, and them bonding over their twins that way. That would be a really sweet scene.
I love Piz also. He is too adorable.
He really is. Especially with his dance, and the rambling about his show while everyone was staring at him like he'd grown a second head.
